Contentment Reading Challege 2011 - November update

During November, I read only 1 book for this challenge. It was:
  1. Never the Bride My Cheryl McKay and Rene Gutteridge
So that now takes me to 38 books for the challenge.

I didn't have a lot of time for reading during November. Work has been crazy busy and then all the end of year things have started.
Halfway through December I begin my summer holidays, so maybe I will have more time for reading then. We shall see.

Happy reading!

create your own banner at mybannermaker.com!

During October, I read only 1 book for this challenge. It was:
  1. All Our Tomorrows by Irene Hannon
So that now takes me to 37 books for the challenge.

It was a slower month because I had some new books I was reading. I'm nearly ready to start reading Christmas books, so I'll probably read a few for this challenge.

I hope everyone else has been going well.

For August, I read a total of 3 books for this challenge. They were:

  1. Forevermore by Cathy Marie Hake
  2. Whirlwind by Cathy Marie Hake
  3. That Certain Spark by Cathy Marie Hake
Another Cathy Marie Hake month!
Gooding, Texas is the scene for these books, as well as Fancy Pants which I read in July. I'm currently reading the 5th book in this series - Serendipity. So far, so good. Of the 4 I've read so far, Forevermore is my favourite.

So that now takes me to 30 books for the challenge.

Contentment Reading Challenge 2011 - July

Last month I accidentally included a book from this month, but I'll get my totals right up to the end of July.

For July, I read a total of 3 books for this challenge. They were:

  1. Letter Perfect by Cathy Marie Hake
  2. Bittersweet by Cathy Marie Hake
  3. Fancy Pants by Cathy Marie Hake
I guess you could say I had a Cathy Marie Hake month! I love her books, they are so much fun to read. The first two are a pair, but the third is part of a different series - the rest of which I have read so far in August - but I'll tell you about them with my next update.

So that now takes me to 27 books for the challenge.

Contentment Reading Challenge 2011 - April, May, June

create your own banner at mybannermaker.com!

It's been a while since I did any blogging - almost a month! But it's been much longer since I updated you on how I am going with this reading challenge.

My last update was at the end of March and I had read a total of 18 books. That left me just two book to get to the 20 suggested for the "Diving in" level of the challenge that I selected. Of course, that didn't mean I was limited to only reading 20 books, and I can say that I have now read more than that.

For April, May and June, I read a total of 6 books for this challenge. They were:

  1. The Quilt by T. Davis Bunn
  2. In Grandma's Attic by Arleta Richardson
  3. More Stories from Grandma's Attic by Arleta Richardson
  4. All Through the Night by Grace Livingston Hill
  5. Sophie's Heart by Lori Wick
  6. Exit Betty by Grace Livingston Hill
So that now takes me to 24 books for the challenge.
The Grandma's Attic books were actually new to my shelves because I got reprinted copies (see FIRST post), but I had read them before, so I'm including them. They're the kind of books that it doesn't matter how many times you read them, you still get a good laugh.

Contentment Reading Challenge 2011 - March

With my life completely crazy and reading being one of the things that has taken a back seat I managed 4 books for this challenge during March.
Maybe when I've finished my childcare placement for uni I will have a little more time. The 4 books for this month were (one of which I finished today):

  1. The Fires of Freedom by Sally Laity and Dianna Crawford (#4 Freedom's Holy Light)

  2. The Embers of Hope by Sally Laity and Dianna Crawford (#5 Freedom's Holy Light)

  3. The Torch of Triumph by Sally Laity and Dianna Crawford (#6 Freedom's Holy Light)

  4. Every Storm by Lori Wick
Overall I read 8 books for the month. So half being for this challenge is pretty good.

Contentment Reading Challenge 2011 - February

create your own banner at mybannermaker.com!

It was a shallow dive for me this month.

After the 10 books I read in January, I only managed 4 books for February. There are a lot of reasons for this, but I don't have the inclination to go into that now.

Of the 7 books I read this month, the 4 books that qualify for this challenge are:

  1. The Princess by Lori Wick
  2. The Gathering Dawn by Dianna Crawford and Sally Laity (#1 Freedom's Holy Light)
  3. The Kindled Flame by Dianna Crawford and Sally Laity (#2 Freedom's Holy Light)
  4. The Tempering Blaze by Dianna Crawford and Sally Laity (#3 Freedom's Holy Light)

Someone might argue that because the 3 later books aren't actually on my bookshelf they don't count, however they are on our family bookshelf (my family also has a lot of books, not just me), and I have read them before, so they do count in my estimation.

Well, the first month of 2011 is now history, and that means it's time for my first update on how I'm going with the Contentment Reading Challenge 2011.

Of the 19 books I read for the month, 10 of those were for this challenge.

I really am 'diving' in, but that's because I don't have the financial resources to add to my library.

  2. Don't Take Any Wooden Nickels by Mindy Starns Clark (#2 Million Dollar Mystery series)

Blogging in 2011

I really enjoyed the reading challenges that I participated in this year, so for 2011 I'm joining another one. This challenge is hosted by 'Seasons of Humility', and is called 'The Contentment Reading Challenge 2011'.

create your own banner at mybannermaker.com!

The purpose of this challenge is to re-read some of the books that are already on your shelves, and be content with things you have rather than keeping on buying new books. There are a few different levels to this challenge, but I have decided to go for the highest and re-read 20 books from my shelf.

If you would like to join in please have a look at the guidelines.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've also been thinking about doing something of my own for next year, but I'm not going to tell you about it yet, because I haven't quite worked it out. Let me just say that it sort of springs from a song from 'The Sound of Music'.
