About the Book:

'The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword ...'That is one of the ways the Bible defines itself. This Devotional takes you into 30 other of its definitions. Your confidence in and appreciation of God's word will be strengthened as you understand its claims. The author's hope is that this book will enrich your love for and understanding of God's unchanging scriptures. For God has expressed Himself within them so you will know Him in a personal way.Scripture is God's breath in print with power to declare His glory. It is His sword to strike against ungodliness. He has given it to us also to guide, guard and govern our relationship of faith in Him.

My Thoughts:

I haven't finished reading this yet.
Ray always gives me things to think about, learn and study more.
This book gives glimpses of the purpose of the Bible and reminds us that it is God's Word.

Christmas or Bible Memory?

I heard a snippet of this Andrew Peterson song a little while ago and cracked up laughing. Who would have thought to put the genealogy to music?!

Friday Fill-Ins - August 31

And...here we go!

1. You don't have to be a genius to figure out that I want to get married one day (sooner rather than later would be nice).
2. But it's the way it shatters that matters (Violet Crumble, I want to eat you).
3. Basically, there is a dream that I am still waiting to come true.
4. How I interpret life is differnet to how you do, but that's ok because life would be boring if we were all the sam.
5. If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, so that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God. (Genesis 28:20-21)
6. I believe God has a plan for my life - He just hasn't revealed it all to me yet.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a quiet night at home, tomorrow my plans include going to Paperific and doing as many make and takes as I can and Sunday, I want to serve the families by being in creche and enjoy The Gathering in the evening!

Friday Fill-Ins - October 28

And...here we go!

1. Beware of cute children - they can steal your heart.

2. I have never been to the snow.

3. And since we are  surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. (Hebrews 12:1)

4. _____ spirits?

5. Where can I go from Your spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. (Psalm 139:7-10)

6. Soup and bread is one of my favorite meals when it's cold out.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a quiet night at home watching episodes of The Man from Snowy River and listening to the rain falling outside, tomorrow my plans include going to my cousin's birthday party and Sunday, I want to enjoy the fellowship at church and have a quiet afternoon!

'Belated Follower' by Colleen L. Reece

"At this point in his thinking, Benjamin always faltered. What right had he to take a wife, when he vowed to find the Messiah? Reason argued, it may be years. Soon Miriam will be gone. Who will protect this child of God from such as Darius, whose face fills with lust as she passes by? From the depths of his soul Benjamin cried, "Oh, Lord, what would You have me do?"

While this is not exactly a Christmas novel, it does seem to have more significance at this time of the year. It is an older book, published in 1995, so you may not be able to get your hands on a copy. I borrowed this one from a friend.

Bible Story

James (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read,
"The man named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out
of the city but his wife looked back and was turned to
salt."

Concerned, James asked, "What happened to the flea?"

Received from Chris Keniston.
