Contentment Reading Challenge 2013 - March Update

Here we are! April 1st and time for me to update you on my "Diving" progress!

I had some extra time to read during March, as I have finally finished the course I was studying (I will soon be starting another, but have to wait for some paperwork to arrive).

This month I read 10 books for the challenge!
So that takes me to 17 for the year so far (actually 18, because I have already finished one for April).

The books for March were:
  • The Proposal by Lori Wick
  • The Rescue by Lori Wick
  • The Visitor by Lori Wick
  • The Pursuit by Lori Wick
  • Where Do I Go? by Neta Jackson
  • Who Do I Talk To? by Neta Jackson
  • Who Do I Lean On? by Neta Jackson
  • Never the Bride by Cheryl McKay and Rene Gutteridge
  • Crime Scene Jerusalem by Alton Gansky
  • The Case of the Vanishing Corpse by Kel Richards
So, yes, by the end of 3 months I've almost reached the target of 20 books!

Happy Reading everyone! I hope this inspires you to look back through your shelves and find old treasures!

Contentment Reading Challenge 2013 - February AND GIVEAWAY

Another month already? Where is the time going?

So, I read 4 books for the challenge this time!

  • Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Down by Neta Jackson
  • Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Real by Neta Jackson
  • Masquerade by Jill Stengl, Pamela Griffin, Tamela Hancock Murray and Bonnie Blythe
  • Novel Crimes by Pamela Griffin, Susan K Downs, Diann Hunt and Susan May Warren
Both of the books by Neta Jackson are ones that I read several years ago, but borrowed from the library so that I could read them again (the rest of the series won't be listed because I haven't read them before even though I'm borrowing them from the library).

The other 2 books are both compilations, and I have decided not to keep them. The books are good, but not ones I plan to read again. One has already been given away.

GIVE AWAY:
Novel Crimes is free to a good home, and I will post anywhere in Australia. I will send to the first person who comments that they want it.

Contentment Reading Challenge 2013 - January

Here we are - the first update for 2013!

3 books made it on the list, and they are:
  • Heirloom Brides by Cathy Marie Hake, Colleen Coble, Kristin Billerbeck and Gina Fields
  • Magic for Marigold by L. M. Montgomery
  • The Yada Yada Prayer Group by Neta Jackson
You can still join the challenge, you just have a month less to reach your goals.
There are some wonderful forgotten treasures in books you've read before!
Or if you're anything like me, you'll find a treasure that you didn't know was in there.

This challenge is also a great way to go through your bookshelves and find ones that you may not want to read again for whatever reason. They can be passed on to someone else and make room for a new book!

Come to the Table by Neta Jackson

New Novel from Best-selling Author Neta Jackson
Kat Davies is suddenly wondering if her good deed was a bad idea…
Come to the Table
by Neta Jackson
Thomas Nelson
December 11, 2012
ISBN-13/EAN: 978-1-59554-865-8 ISBN:1-59554-865-3
400 pages/Trade Paper/$15.99
Kat may be new in her faith, but she’s embraced the more radical implications of Christianity with reckless abandon. She invited Rochelle, a homeless mother, and her son to move into the apartment she shares with two other housemates. And she’s finally found a practical way to channel her passion for healthy eating by starting a food pantry at the church. And her feelings for Nick are getting harder to ignore. The fact that he’s the interning pastor at SouledOut Community Church and one of her housemates makes it complicated enough. But with Rochelle showing interest in Nick as a father-figure for her son, their apartment is feeling way too small.
But -- not everyone thinks the food pantry is a good idea. When the woman she thought would be her biggest support just wants to “pray about it,” Kat is forced to look deeper at her own motives. Only when she begins to look beyond food as an issue does she see people who are hungry and thirsty for more than just food and drink and realizes the deeper significance of inviting them to “come to the table.”
Kat must do some serious soul searching to determine where God is asking her to use her talents and passion . . . and what role she wants to play in Nick’s life.
From best-selling author Neta Jackson (has sold more than 700,000 books) her new novel embodies Matthew 10:42 “If you give a cup of cold water to the least of these you will surely be rewarded.”

My Thoughts:
Sadly I didn't get this book in time to read it for reviewing. However I'm looking forward to reading it because I have enjoyed several of Neta's other books. I just need to get my hands on book 1 in this series.

My, how this year has flown. I thought the year would drag, since I have been out of work, but no, it has flown at break-neck speed and we are now into the closing stages of September. I'm already seeing Christmas things in shops, and we aren't even into October yet!
