Teaser Tuesdays - December 21

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

I thought about putting up a Christmas teaser, but then I thought this might be more fun.

Blog Plans for 2011 continued

As I mentioned in my last post about blogging plans for 2011 I have been thinking about doing something relating to a song from 'The Sound of Music'.

Yes, it's 'My Favourite Things'.

So this is the plan :
Every week on a nominated day (I haven't decided which yet), I will post something about one of my favourite things. There will be a button on the side, so feel free to follow along and join in. I can't promise I will look at everyone's posts because I will be very busy next year starting a new career (yes, I have finally given up on going back to accounting).

Blogging in 2011

I really enjoyed the reading challenges that I participated in this year, so for 2011 I'm joining another one. This challenge is hosted by 'Seasons of Humility', and is called 'The Contentment Reading Challenge 2011'.

The purpose of this challenge is to re-read some of the books that are already on your shelves, and be content with things you have rather than keeping on buying new books. There are a few different levels to this challenge, but I have decided to go for the highest and re-read 20 books from my shelf.

I've also been thinking about doing something of my own for next year, but I'm not going to tell you about it yet, because I haven't quite worked it out. Let me just say that it sort of springs from a song from 'The Sound of Music'.

2010 Reading Challenge - week 50

I finished 4 books this week. One of which was a single volume containing 7 books.

They were:

• The Chronicles of Narnia by C S Lewis (7 books in 1)
• Sweet Harmony by Janice Hanna
• Everybody Wanted Room 623 by Cecil Murphey
• Everybody Called Her a Saint by Cecil Murphey

• Becoming a Woman of Simplicity by Cynthia Heald

Friday Fill-Ins #204

So...here we go!

1. What in the world were they thinking to bring back some of the current fashions.

2. I am well fed.

3. Go tell it on the mountain.

4. No Christmas cards sent but many received.

5. I keep wishing I was a kid again.

6. Believe it or not.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a Christmas party, tomorrow my plans include volunteering to do gift wrapping again at a local shopping centre and Sunday, I want to enjoy church in the morning and then our church family Christmas celebration in the evening!

2010 Reading Challenge - week 49

Ok, so I got my weeks mixed up and I've had to go all the way back to week 15 and change the titles of my posts to the correct week. What a frustrating thing, because you have to go and edit each post one at a time and re-publish it. Why did I do it, well I was thinking about how long we actually have left in this year and it didn't match up to the week number, so I went back to all my posts for this and realised that I had said week 15 twice!

Now, to get back on track!

This week I officially finished reading just 1 book:

• Whisper on the Wind by Maureen Lang (The Great War #2)

However, one of the books I'm currently reading is The Chronicles of Narnia which although has been put in a single volume, it actually contains 7 books, of which I have finished 3.

So I'm reading:

• More Precious Than Silver by Joni Eareckson Tada
• Rise and Shine by Liz Curtis Higgs
• Becoming a Woman of Simplicity by Cynthia Heald
• The Chronicles of Narnia by C S Lewis

Friday Fill-Ins #203

So...here we go!

1. I wish there was such a thing as a money tree.

2. Mmmm... chocolate...that's what I'm thinking.

3. Please bring yourself and we'll have a great time together.

4. God is so amazing.

5. One of my fondest hopes is that I will get married and have children.

6. God you have provided for me what I needed once again and I just wanted to say thank you.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to being at home, tomorrow my plans include finishing something I started today and Sunday, I want to enjoy church and whatever else ends up happening!

For something different, this is not actually part of the story, but the dedication at the beginning of the book. I just found it very interesting. Not everyone reads the dedications, but they can give insights into the author and why they wrote the book that you would otherwise be unaware of.
