Carriages
I recently discovered these wonderful paintings by Doug Laird. They were actually made into jigsaw puzzles.
I like puzzles, but I think I prefer these just as the art work.
And the third is "Sunday Afternoon".

The first one is called "By the River".

Friday Fill-In #111 (actually 2 for me)
And...here we go!
1. It seems like I will never have a boyfriend.
2. Turn the light off when you're done, please?
3. If I thought you would listen I'd keep talking!
4. Trouble is what I think of most when I think of you.
5. To me, Valentine's Day means another day alone.
6. God gives me strength.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleeping, tomorrow my plans include well, I'm not exactly sure yet and Sunday, I want to join in the time of corporate worship at church!
Hmm ... maybe I shouldn't have done this right now. I seem a little down.

Who Does What
A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning. The wife said, "You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee." The husband said, " You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee." Wife replies, "No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee." Husband replies, "I can't believe that, show me." So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says.........."HEBREWS"
I couldn't resist putting this one in!

What Flower Are You?
|
I thought I'd try this quiz just for fun, but I have no idea what a Canna is.
Hmm ... time for a Google search ...
and this is what I found out:
- tropical plant originating in South America
- can be bright red, apricot, gold, deep salmon in colour
- clumping perenials
- flower November to April
- can be listed as a weed in some states.
Hmm ... can't say I really like it that much. I prefer traditional English garden plants like hollyhocks, roses, violets and my absolute favorite - Forget-me-nots.

My Birthday Cake
This is the amazing birthday cake that my sister A made for me yesterday. The pink candle is a cake. She did such a great job of making it look like the candle has been used, even putting a used wick in the centre and having the icing look like wax had run down the side.
The blue block is actually a book. The 3 edges that you can't see are white with lines on them to look like pages.
Ok, so now you know my age!! And I did manage to blow out all those candles in one go.

Spring Cleaning Challenge
I'm joining this one too.
Some of you may remember that I was involved in the Throw Out 50 Things challenge at the end of last year. Well, I've still been decluttering since then, so joining a new declutteirng challenge seems to be a good idea. I already have 1/2 a bag full of clothes for the op shop, plus a few other little things, and I'm still giving away some books.
Of course, for me it's really an Autumn Cleaning Challenge because I live in the southern hemisphere.
Plus this will help me get oganised for when we move house (sometime this year when we actually find the right house).
Ok, so my goals for this one are:
~ Sort through the things stored under my bed.
~ Sort through the things under and around my desk.
I know these seem very general, but there will be a lot to do within these areas.
I may even add some extra things as the challenge progresses.
Oh, and in case you are wondering, this challenge finishes at the end of April.

Friday Fill-Ins
1. Please don't tell me I can't buy more books.
2. Can you stand the smell of bacon and eggs in the morning?
3. The color green makes me want to find a grassy hill to roll down!
4. I have a craving for a weekend of watching chick flicks.
5. If my life had a pause button, I'd pause it back when I was a child having treasure hunts in Gran's garden.
6. Eyes are the windows of the soul.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching a movie on DVD, tomorrow my plans include shopping and Sunday, I want to go out for dinner with my best friend!

Blog Award - Let's Be Friends
Wow! Until now I have never received one of these, although I've seen other people with various blog awards floating around.
Thank you, AusJenny, for thinking of me.
The award says:
“These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”
Hmm ... now as to the 8 people I am supposed to award this to ...
I'd really like to give it to Jenny, but since she gave it to me I guess I can't.
Let's see now ...
Well, first I'd like to award Denise, Kristin, Colleen, and Diann at Girls Write Out.
And then there is Debbie Buckland over in NZ.
Amy Wallace over at Heart Chocolate.
Bonnie Leon for her inspiring words and encouragement.
Monica over at Monniblog.
My friend Candy at Burns Abroad - the only one on this list who I have actually met outside blog and email land.
Mindy Starns Clark - the wonderful author of The House that Cleans Itself and many other books.
And finally Rel over at Relz Reviewz (I know Jenny awarded her, but I was running out of people). I really should thank her for all those giveways I've won!

Human Needs
more animals
This is so much like my sister's cat. She will sit and wait for us to return and not be settled until we are all home for the evening.
