Contentment Reading Challenge 2011 - March

create your own banner at mybannermaker.com!

With my life completely crazy and reading being one of the things that has taken a back seat I managed 4 books for this challenge during March.
Maybe when I've finished my childcare placement for uni I will have a little more time. The 4 books for this month were (one of which I finished today):

  1. The Fires of Freedom by Sally Laity and Dianna Crawford (#4 Freedom's Holy Light)

  2. The Embers of Hope by Sally Laity and Dianna Crawford (#5 Freedom's Holy Light)

  3. The Torch of Triumph by Sally Laity and Dianna Crawford (#6 Freedom's Holy Light)

  4. Every Storm by Lori Wick
Overall I read 8 books for the month. So half being for this challenge is pretty good.

The Things Children Say ...

I heard the cutest story on the radio while I was on my way home tonight.

Everyday a little girl would walk to school and home again.

On this day her mother worried about her coming home because the weather was getting bad and an electrical storm was brewing, and she worried that her daughter would be scared of the lightening and thunder.

So the girl's mother got in her car and drove the route that her daughter would normally take on her way home from school.

When she arrived at the point where her daughter was, the lightening flashed and she saw her daughter look to the sky and smile. This happened every time the lightening flashed.

She asked her daughter what she was doing, and the little girl said, "God is taking my picture and I am trying to look pretty!"

My Favourite Things Hiatus

For all of you who are eagerly awaiting my next installment of "My Favourite Things", I am very sorry, but I just can't get it together at the moment.
Between study, grief and life in general, my time is almost completely taken up.
I have a really great one that I would love to share with you, but in my life some things had to go, and regular blogging was just one of those.

Hopefully I will be back at this before the year is out. I am only studying until July, so maybe ...

Just keep your eyes open because I will be back.

Teaser Tuesdays - March 15

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

The Torch of Triumph by Sally Laity and Dianna Crawford

'Taking care not to make any sudden moves, Evie slowly stooped down and tugged from the medicine box the thin, tightly woven rope Emily had taught her to use as a twitch. She began fashioning a loop. As she did so, she heard approaching footsteps crunching across the straw.
She smiled with relief. Susannah must have read her mind. "Over here. This silly colt would rather bleed to death than have me touch him." Finished with her loop, she rose and turned to hand it to Susannah.
But no peaches-and-cream complexion met her gaze. A blackened face striped with vermilion paint peered down at her through malevolent eyes.

Perfect Timing!

This could never be repeated no matter how hard you tried.

Shredded Paper

This is so funny!
It also reminds me of what I used to do as a baby (not that I actually remember). I used to make a bee-line for Dad's newspaper if he put it on the floor. I would rip it to shreads before he even had a chance to read it!

The Fires of Freedom by Sally Laity and Dianna Crawford

'The crisp chilly air somehow reinforced her inner strength. She breathed deeply of it, waiting for him to speak. Dreading it. Wanting him to make everything right, but knowing there was no possible way he could.'
